Work Smarter, Not Harder: Building Office 365 Site Templates with the Open-Source Office 365 Patterns and Practices Framework

A session at SharePoint Fest Chicago 2015

  • Christopher Johnson

Wednesday 9th December, 2015

4:20pm to 5:30pm (CST)

Your days of endlessly paging StackOverflow are over! Microsoft Office 365 engineers have open-sourced and -- gasp! – documented -- hundreds of code samples and frameworks that demonstrate best practices for developing for SharePoint on Office 365.

In this session, you'll learn how to tackle site templates and provisioning in Office 365 by harnessing the power of the Office 365 Patterns and Practices repo on GitHub, starting with the OfficeDev/PnP core framework available through NuGet. We'll cover the PnP site template schema, exporting an existing Office 365 site to a template, and applying a custom template and theme to a newly-provisioned Office 365 site-- all while complying with best practices, and WITHOUT writing full-trust code.
