Isomorphic templating with Spring Boot, Nashorn and React

A session at Spring I/O 2015

Wednesday 29th April, 2015

12:00pm to 1:00pm (WET)

This talk shows, with code sample, how to develop an application performing the same templates rendering on client AND server based on Spring Boot, Nashorn and React (the latest game changer Javascript library released by Facebook). The rendering of React templates is performed initially on server-side thanks to a Spring MVC + Nashorn integration, then enriched on client side with a push mechanism (Websocket or Server-Sent Events).
This kind of isomorphic templating + the disruptive innovation brought by React with his virtual DOM mechanism make it possible to build a new kind of applications : responsive, with a great UX while being accessible …

The sample application I will demonstrate is a MicroCMS prototype, deployed on Cloud Foundry, the source code will be available on GitHub. It will shows the live update of the content but also of the layout of the Website, without any need to reload the web page.
