'Living Services' is Fjord's definition of the next wave of digital. You may have heard of the Internet of Things, but how will businesses and brands use it? How will health services, transportation, insurance, utilities and security companies, for example, evolve to match our increasingly liquid demands and expectations in a world where almost everything is digitised?
In the future, the Internet of Things and powerful data analytics will allow us to create services that come to life; predicting and reacting to consumers’ changing needs and circumstances. Services will be personalised and change in real-time for every individual wherever they are and whatever they are doing. Digital interactions will move away from the screen and out in the physical world. Devices will hear our words, anticipate our needs and sense our gestures.
So how do we prepare ourselves for a time when digital services constantly evolve and screens are only a small part of the user experience? We might still be in the mobile era, but clients are soon going to ask us to create living services and we'd better be ready for it.
At Fjord, we believe that the best way to design living services is to make them. We call this a Fjord MakeShop. Armed with lots of physical stuff (pens, cardboard, plastic, maps and PlayMobil people) we will explore what living services might look like in the future.
The session is for anyone who would like to try prototyping outside the screen and take a physical approach to digital design problems. And if you haven't heard of living services before, don't worry, we'll give you an introduction in the beginning.
