Business Mastery Learning Framework

A session at ArchConf

Wednesday 6th April, 2016

7:30pm to 9:00pm (PST)

In 2011, Eric Reis started a revolution in the entrepreneur and business world with his book, The Lean Startup. By thinking about the business model as the product, and using the scientific method to drive systematic learning and improvement, the Lean Startup community has been pioneering new ways to optimize the rate of discovery and increase the rate of success.

Learning skills don't suddenly become irrelevant as a business grows. Lean Startup isn't only for startups. In the competitive world of software development, learning faster and adapting faster is essential to competing in today's market.

Business Mastery Learning Framework is a mapping of Lean Startup principles to mainstream business that's designed to use along side the Idea Flow Learning Framework. If you want to learn how to run your software organization from top to bottom with science, you won't want to miss this talk!

Business Mastery Learning Framework uses a combination of Janelle's Idea Flow Learning Framework in conjunction with Ash Maurya's Running Lean + Scaling Lean frameworks to build an explicit process for data-driven business improvement. By modeling the “Customer Factory” and the “Idea Flow Factory” as an end-to-end business supply chain, we can apply the same tools and principles that revolutionized the manufacturing industry, to the software world.

This session will cover:

Principles of Lean Startup, the Scientific Method, and Explicit Mastery
Theory of Constraints, Process Control, and Supply Chain Management from Lean Manufacturing
How to model the “Customer Factory” business supply chain
How to model the “Idea Flow Factory” software supply chain
How to create a data-driven feedback loop to fuel Business Mastery
Warning: Business Mastery Learning Framework is still in the early stages of development. The presentation will cover a new strategy and process for explicit business mastery that's actively being researched and tested by the Open Mastery community.
