An experience report: Extending Scrum adoption using Visual Management

A session at Scrum Australia 2016

Thursday 28th April, 2016

2:45pm to 3:35pm (EST)

Ben shares how, over the last 6 months, he has been working with an innovative insurance company to extend their Scrum adoption beyond the IT team, using visual management. He explains how he has introduced visual management to build awareness and support for agile thinking across the wider organisation, whilst tackling high levels of work-in-progress in many business departments. He describes the cultural impact the use of visual management has had on organisations and their subsequent interest in, and opportunity to, extend Scrum into non-IT projects.

Ben discusses how visualising impediments and delays have improved responsiveness from stakeholders. He will share data from teams, captured over the last few months. He will also share practical tips for extending agile adoption outside the IT sphere, and discuss the challenges of implementing change in an overburdened organisation.
