Workshop with Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino - How to Build a Connected Product

A session at Collaborate Bristol Conference and Workshop - UX | Design | IA

Thursday 10th November, 2016

10:00am to 4:00pm (GMT)

Using Know Cards which we developed for designers interested in the internet of things, we will introduce participants to technical building blocks involved in building connected product experiences. Absolutely no prior knowledge is necessary, just a desire to learn with a very easy and accessible tool.

We will introduce you to inputs, outputs, power and connectors, and brainstorming techniques. This will enable you to think through an idea before you invest in prototyping tools. You’ll have an idea of what the options available are and be able to communicate it to your technical partners more clearly.

This workshop is for anyone thinking of building a connected product and wanting to build up some vocabulary around the topic.

Workshop Goals

  • Learn what is involved in building a connected product
  • Learn about all the technical options available
  • Learn about how each technical option influences a product and the user experiences

What you will learn

  • What do I need to consider when I’m thinking about a connected product idea?
  • What should I buy to prototype?
  • What are my technical options?
  • What else could I be using to achieve the same goal?

Ticket cost covers refreshments including pastries on arrival, tea and coffee throughout the day and a buffet lunch.
