Tips for protecting and securing your data: A deep dive into data migration techniques for networking, security, and data

A session at Data Migration for SAP Customers

Tuesday 18th October, 2016

9:00am to 10:15am (PST)

Take a critical look into the detailed networking architecture and infrastructure requirements for supporting data migration for on-premise or cloud environments and acquire the methods needed to secure sensitive data during migration, such as encryption, secure transfer protocols, and firewalls. Attend this session to explore validation techniques of the data flow between the source and target systems and get proven methodology to avoid data loss or corruption. In addition to walking through major secure migration considerations, such as reducing costs, lowering risks, and minimizing disruptions, you will also:
•Learn how to develop a sound network security plan, including techniques for encryption, firewalls, controls, and protocols to secure data and networking during transfers
•Review data migration network routing architectures, understand the temporary or permanent networking connectors available to support migrations, and explore considerations for distance and latency, storage systems, and edge gateways
•Get insight into network bandwidth requirements and the impacts of using VPN, MPLS, P2P, or vendor-supplied topologies
•Explore offline data transfer solutions
•Review the one-time or short-term technical requirements supporting data migrations and the recommended best practices
