Object Oriented Programming Design Patterns in Drupal 8

A session at Drupal North Regional Summit 2016

  • Vic Tarcenco
  • Nik Alexandrov

Saturday 18th June, 2016

10:15am to 11:15am (EST)

A Drupal 8 practical module schema will be using Adapter Design Pattern - one of the most widely used design patterns. An adapter lets classes work together that could not otherwise because of incompatible interfaces. It is extremely useful for easily switching between database server types, payment providers, notification types etc. In this presentation example we will incorporate some different payment providers into one common workflow using single general wrapper interface.

As an added benefit of using OOP design patterns, a quick method of converting Drupal 7 Payment Module into Drupal 8 Module will be demonstrated.
