The Geeks, the Freaks, and the People with Sensible Shoes: Reflections on the origins of the Dublin Core

A session at Dublin Core at 21

Friday 19th August, 2016

1:15pm to 2:00pm (EST)

Stuart Weibel was a cofounder of the Dublin Core, and led the initiative in its early years. The initiative emerged from the World Wide Web, and for many years they evolved within the same super-heated technological revolution that has transformed modern life in the past two and a half decades. The Dublin Core was part of the introduction of the Web to libraries, and served -- occasionally -- to inject the values and experience of libraries into the technical community. Dr. Weibel will share his thoughts and stories about how it all came to be.
