Often as developers we are forced to choose between different technologies to focus on and learn because learning has a cost. This cost is more limited than all the world’s coal, oil or natural gas, it’s even more limited than all the money that sit in all the bank’s vaults: the cost I speak of is time. The technology choices I refer to can range from different tools, different libraries and different frameworks and in all cases when we choose to learn one thing, it means we can't spend that time learning another. This talk will look at how choices we make can impact the work that we do. It will explain how just because we choose to learn X over Y, it’s the end product that matters, not the journey we took to get there. The technology is there to make our life easier, not to force us to make certain decisions.
