Patients’ personal and private information is often no longer only held by the provider, but integrated system wide. This development creates the need to establish a data governance structure to protect your patients. Develop a plan to:
-Identify information that needs to be collected
-Weigh the risks and benefits of making data available
-Determine ownership of data
Establish clear policies governing data to protect the privacy of your patients’ medical records.
