Break Out Session 4: Module Choice, the Loughborough journey to a new student choice system

A session at SROC 2016

Wednesday 6th April, 2016

9:45am to 10:45am (GMT)

Institution: Loughborough University

This seminar will follow the Loughborough student choice story so far and open discussion about best practice and challenges faced as we look to embed this is a standard University process and system for online module selection. A change review of module choice processes at Loughborough highlighted that five distinct systems were in operation across campus. In 2015 we conducted a pilot project, documenting best practice to shape the direction any development would take and looked to streamline the approach through online application. The system allowed students to make choices guided by constraints, which were validated before submission and students were also able to look up draft timetables based on their choices. We are on the verge of rolling out the new development as a University-wide student online module choice system, closely integrated with the student records system (LUSI) and online timetables (CMIS)
