Software vendors often face the challenge to flexibly deliver variants of software within fast delivery cycles. There are also use cases that require them to provide different software “flavors” for different target groups. One means to address such challenges are feature flags which allow software providers to flexibly enable or disable parts of the software based on certain criteria. The challenge for user assistance teams is to find efficient ways to adapt the documentation to the available software variants flexibly and with manageable effort. We will show how feature flags can be managed in the documentation by designing a suitable info architecture and by using concepts like profiling in DITA.
