•Toilet Seats are available at Daniels Family Hair Care, 323 Main Street, to be picked up and decorated. There is a competition and the public is invited to vote for their favorite seat. $1 donation per vote will go to the Coopersville/Polkton Firemen’s Club. They will be auctioned off the day of the race.
•The Downtown festivities will begin with a Pancake Breakfast at Lt’s Firehouse Café, 259 Main Street. Breakfast will be from 7am-10am and profits will be donated to the Great Lakes Burn Camp.
•The Coopersville Area Arts Council & Coopersville Band Boosters will hold the Coopersville 5K Run/Walk at 9am at the Coopersville Community Service Building with warm up in the Heritage Room (known to many as the old gym). Packet pick up is either Friday, February 24, 5-7pm or Saturday, February 25, 8-9am.
•The starting line for the outhouse race will be in front of the café and teams will run the wrong way down the one way street! The Outhouse 500 race itself, is hosted by the Coopersville/Polkton Firemen’s Club and will be emceed by Mark and Lauri Douglas. It will begin at 10am with the National Anthem, performed by Thom Eno for the 13th year in a row, on his musical saw. A parade of all the Outhouse 500 teams (led by the King and Queen of the Outhouses and Miss Coopersville Representatives) will follow our National Anthem.
•Outhouse 500: Each team will push their outhouse down Main Street, alongside another team, in three heats. There are specifications for building your own outhouse; must have four walls, a roof, and a doorway with a crescent moon on it. There are no weight requirements, but there are height and square footage requirements. Any number of wheels may be used and it must have a grasping device to push the outhouse down the street. Teams are encouraged to register by February 11 for $30 or by February 24 for $40. The organizers of the Outhouse 500 are offering teams the use of one of their specially built outhouses, if need be.
•Off The Tracks Grocery will host a Frozen Tee Shirt Contest! Limited to the first 12 participants, individuals will have to take apart a ball of frozen tee shirts and the winner will be the first one to put one on!
•Little Outhouse Races are non-competitive and will be run for entertainment only. Michigan Online Auctions provides little outhouses and kids 12 and under interested in pushing one down Main Street need to register at Daniels Family Hair Care and have their parents sign a waiver prior to 10am on February 25. All participants will receive a token medallion. There is no cost for the kids to participate.
•The 13th Annual Chili Cook-off is held inside the Coopersville Farm Museum, 375 Main Street, from 11am – 1pm, along with live music, free admission, and kid’s activities. The cost to sample chili is 2/$1 or 12/$5. http://coopersvillefarmmuseum.or...
•A Euchre Tournament is scheduled at the VFW Post 5598, located at 511 N. 68th Street at 1:30pm. Bring a partner and register by 1pm to participate in the annual Euchre Tournament.
•Bollywood: Miss Coopersville Pageant will be held at 7pm at Centerstage Theatre. A great way to end the day’s events and show Miss Coopersville representatives our appreciation for all the community service they give. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details on how to enter!
