As a Product Manager, finding the right balance between tactical, technical and strategic/marketing aspects of the role is crucial for success.
In reality though, how many Product Managers work in sales or engineering led businesses and struggle to influence the business to make market-led decisions? How many product managers find themselves naturally leaning towards sales, marketing or engineering activities and struggle to stay balanced across all?
In this panel discussion we look at some of the challenges facing Product Managers, particularly when their role is ill-defined or they are caught in a triad between sales, marketing and engineering.
We will discuss the strengths required to influence market-led decisions in the business and to find the right balance between strategic, technical, tactical and marketing activities. We will discuss whether the role of product management is really understood in businesses and whether one product manager can do it all? We will discuss how we as Product Managers can influence the introduction of a multi-disciplinary function that will allow product management to be truly effective.
