Building on their success at SXSW Interactive 2011, this year Lanyrd will be providing SXSWi attendees with a range of helpful tools to make navigating the event easier. They have announced their unofficial session guide (austin.lanyrd.com), which shows attendees which panels their Twitter contacts are presenting or attending, helping to make connections during the event. It also allows attendees to create their own personalised schedule, which can be subscribed to in their calendar, as a daily email or through their mobile apps.
Lanyrd now provides both an iPhone (http://lanyrd.com/iphone/) and mobile web app (http://lanyrd.com/mobile/) that include offline storage, meaning attendees can access their personalised schedule even without a reliable data connection.
To help surface those all important new connections, Lanyrd provides an attendee directory (http://austin.lanyrd.com/-/attendees), showing users not only their Twitter contacts but everyone else who has marked themselves as attending the event. Users can search the directory to find people they might want to meet and can follow people on Twitter directly from their directory listing.
In partnership with online printing company MOO, Lanyrd are providing 100 free MiniCard session fliers for each speaker (http://lanyrd.com/blog/2012/minicards/) to help promote individual sessions. Session details are printed on one side of the card, making them perfect to hand out at all those parties.
During the event, Lanyrd will be collecting slides, write-ups, sketchnotes, videos and audio clips from the event to make a lasting archive of information from both attendees and those who couldn’t make it to Austin. Users of austin.lanyrd.com can subscribe to email updates containing slides and video of the sessions they have tracked.
Lanyrd have even thought of those of us who won’t be attending SXSWi this year. Their NotAtSXSW Twitter browser extension (for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera) will hide any tweets that mention SXSW, or come from somone who has marked themselves as attending the event on Lanyrd. To help people network more effectively, Lanyrd will be distributing conversation starter badges (or buttons, or pins) for attendees to attach to their lanyards. (http://lanyrd.com/blog/2012/conference-flair/)
