Some of our conference pages were beginning to strain under the weight of all the wonderful information you've been adding, so we've rolled out a fresh new design and some useful new features.
Here's what our new conference page looks like for the O'Reilly Strata conference:
We've pulled out the most important information - the date and the location - making them much more prominent and giving them some extra breathing space. We've also made a number of smaller typographic tweaks.
There's a useful new feature: if you're signed in to the site, we now highlight which of your Twitter contacts are speaking at, attending or tracking the event with a blue border and a tiny Twitter bird. This also happens in the speaker and attendee directories linked to from the conference page.
We've reduced the total amount of information on the page. We won't show all of the speakers, trackers and attendees on the one page, and if a conference has more than 20 sessions we show a topic cloud of sessions at that conference rather than listing all of the sessions directly on the conference page.
Finally, if an upcoming conference has any open calls for proposals, we'll show those much more obviously at the top of the page. You can browse through some upcoming open calls to see that in action.
