How to share your 2011 conference plans

The holiday season is over; a whole wonderful year stretches before us! Could there be a more perfect time to start thinking about all the exciting conferences that lie ahead? And wouldn't it be even cooler if you could easily share those thoughts with your peers and friends? We think it would be!

Maybe your New Year's resolution was to learn something new, reinvigorate your career or to find that perfect new job. Conferences are great for that! And they're also a brilliant way to meet likeminded people, make new friends and keep on top of what is happening in your industry.

Here's how to use Lanyrd to let your friends and co-workers know what conferences you think are interesting in this coming year.

How to share your #confs2011 on Twitter:

  1. Sign in to Lanyrd, if you haven't already. We'll show you a list of conferences that your Twitter friends are tracking, attending or speaking at.
  2. Browse around the site, or use our search engine, and click "track" or "attend" on the conferences that interest you.
  3. Add any of your favourite conferences that aren't yet listed on Lanyrd (it only takes a moment).
  4. Tweet the following: "My 2011 conference calendar: http://lanyrd.com/people/YOUR-TWITTER-NAME/2011/ #confs2011"

We've also made it super-easy to put your 2011 conference list on your blog. Simply click on the "copy and paste HTML" link on your 2011 conference page and we'll generate you an HTML list of your conferences, complete with microformats, ready for you to paste directly in to the blogging tool of your choice.

Today in Opera Software Team, we were discussing how to leverage our usage of lanyrd. As a group, we would love to put on one Opera page or here on lanyrd the list of talks we are giving, or conferences we are attending, so people can spot us.

Basically instead of http://lanyrd.com/people/YOUR-TW... it would be a http://lanyrd.com/people/YOUR-OR...

As Karl says would be cool, with an RSS feed or API so that we can embed it in our personal or company pages.
