SXSWi grid view and iCal export

Our unofficial SXSWi schedule planner now sports a useful grid view and the ability to export to iCal, Outlook or even your iPhone.

We're thrilled to see so many people using our schedule planner to plan for this year's conference.

One thing that's been missing from the planner until now is the ability to easily spot when interesting sessions overlap with each other. Today we're launching a brand new grid view to help you understand how the sessions relate to one another.

Grid view

The grid view can be activated on any page of the site by selecting the grid view icon. Here's the grid for Friday:

As you can see, the grid also highlights sessions that you are tracking or plan to attend.

If you activate grid view from a filtered search (all journalism sessions on Saturday for example) the grid will maintain those filters, and you can even search within a given grid to further narrow things down.

If you're using us to plan your conference schedule, the most useful grid view is the one showing the sessions you are tracking or plan to attend. You can activate it from the "your sessions" page.

iCal export

We've provided iCal feeds of conferences for a while now, but today we're adding iCal feeds of your SXSWi schedule.

Sign in to the site, visit the your sessions page and use the links to subscribe to feeds of sessions you are tracking or sessions you plan to attend.

You can use these with Apple iCal, Google Calendar, Outlook or the calendaring application of your choice. We've provided them as separate feeds to allow your calendar to display them independently using different colours.

As with most of our SXSW specific features, we'll be providing session feeds for every other conference on the main Lanyrd site later (once we've recovered from our trip to Austin).

Add Lanyrd to your iPhone calendar

Our iCal feeds also work with your iPhone! Simply click on the subscribe links to add Lanyrd to your iPhone calendar.

The iPhone's timezone support can be a little confusing. Check out our iCal help documentation for instructions on ensuring your calendar displays the correct times for the sessions once you arrive in Austin.
