Presenting thumbnails of slides and video

We love being able to easily find videos and slides of conference talks we’ve been to, or ones we didn’t get the chance to see, and we’re sure you do too. Being able to go through slides after a conference and remind yourself of the pearls of wisdom you heard is really helpful. Being able to watch the video of your favourite speaker after you missed them at that conference last month means you still get to see that fabulous talk everyone was chatting about.

Lanyrd helps you collect and discover various kinds of event coverage; from video to audio and even sketch notes. This gives you a one-stop-shop for finding all the information around an event that you could possibly want.

To help surface this information, we’ve been working hard on a small update to Lanyrd that we’d like to show you.

Past conferences like last month's OSCON now display the new super coverage widget. This highlights the most recently added coverage in a more visual and engaging way than we used to.

But thatʼs not all!

We know that if you’re interested in a certain topic, it's helpful to highlight slides and videos about that too. This is also great for conference organisers who may be looking for a new speaker to fit into their conference theme.

The slideshow on our topic pages shows you the most recently added video and slide coverage, so you’ll always be up to date with the most recent talks, every time you look. For example, take a look at our pages for User Experience, WordPress, Django or Node.js

And itʼs on your profile page!

The new slider widget also appears on your profile page, which is a great way for you speakers to showcase your work.

As a conference organiser, if you’re looking for a specific speaker there’s nothing better than being able to see video or slides from their most recently presented talks.

Adding slides and video to Lanyrd

Anyone can add new slides or video to Lanyrd.

1. Find the conference or event, or add a new one if we don't already have it.
2. Browse to our page about the individual session, or add a new session.
3. Make sure the speakers for the session are listed on that page, so that the slides or video appear on their profile pages.
4. Make sure the session page has appropriate topics.
5. Paste the URL to the slideshow or video in to the "Add coverage to this session" box, click "add" and follow the instructions.

If we can generate an embedded preview of the content (e.g. on this session page), we will - otherwise we'll just link to it.

We now support Speaker Deck

We are pleased to announce the addition of Speaker Deck to our supported providers for both embedded previews and thumbnails. Speaker Deck is a brand new presentation sharing site that is invite only for the moment but looks really lovely.

So if you’ve got slides, videos or other coverage that you’d like to see on Lanyrd, go ahead and add it now! We’d love to see more of you.
