So, it's Friday, and I get my first opportunity to write some week notes. Fortunately for me, everyone's been back in the office and working hard on new, exciting, and non-secret things.
Our major launch this week was, undoubtedly, our new mobile web app - Jake has been working studiously on it, and he seems relieved now it's launched and working wonderfully. I spent Wednesday morning running it though final tests on our menagerie of mobiles, and I'm pleased to report that it still works on five-year-old BlackBerries
Our foursquare integration continues to gather users, as well as gaining a lovely writeup from the foursquare engineering blog. We also published a technical look at how that integration works (though as far as I can tell, the most important thing is to get Simon very excited about the whole thing so he'll write it for you).
In addition, today's exciting development has been our change from Trebuchet to Helvetica Neue as our primary font for text around the site. While I know this may seem unexciting for those not well-versed in the finer details of font rendering, I have been assured that it is an excellent improvement in readability - if you're unconvinced, take a look at the difference between old (on the left) and new (on the right):
If you're not on a system with Helvetica Neue, like myself, you'll get your default sans-serif font instead, which should still fit in nicely. Of course, this is all moot if you, like me, prefer your monitors at a 45° angle:
Finally, we're pleased to report that a new food market has opened up right below our office, and that they serve some very nice schnitzel. Plans are in progress for a bucket-based food delivery system. Of course.
